What it is
Before dimension was a concept, there was this.
Not darkness — darkness requires space. Not silence — silence requires the absence of something.
The First Dimension is not the beginning of the universe. It is the beginning of the conditions that made a universe possible. The substrate beneath the substrate. The fact before the first fact.
Modern cosmological study within the Vorticlese recognizes The First Dimension as the foundational stratum of Padyrisia — the origin womb from which the Twelve Ver were held before they had names, before they had domains, before the physics they would become had any matter to govern.
Known Properties
It preceded space. It preceded time. It preceded the forces that now hold one hundred trillion worlds in their precise geometric positions. It is not a place in the way that Calebrisis is a place, or the Vorticlese is a place. It is the condition that had to exist first — so that place itself could become possible.
The First Dimension is where Gen was. Before the whisper. Before the Twelve answered.
What Came From It
From The First Dimension, Padyrisia emerged — or perhaps Padyrisia is The First Dimension, observed from a sufficient distance to be named. The distinction has not been resolved. What is known: the Tretalon trees that grew in Padyrisia are the only physical record of this place that has ever crossed into the Vorticlese. Their bark became the Book. Their fruit became the ink. Their skin became the cover.
The universe is, in part, written in the material of The First Dimension. That has never been fully accounted for.
Status
Gen is silent. The First Dimension cannot be accessed, verified, or studied through any known method. Its existence is required by the mathematics of the Vorticlese — the cosmological record demands an origin point — but proof is impossible.
We proceed as though it is still there.
Because the alternative is not something the physics permits us to consider.
