What it is
The Tretalon tree is the only physical material from Padyrisia that has ever crossed into the Vorticlese.
It is not simply a plant. It is a living element aware of its own essence — matter in its most resonant state, exchanging with what was always going to need it. The Tretalon tree did not grow in Padyrisia the way trees grow on other worlds. It existed there the way the Twelve existed there — as something the place required, present before it had a name, serving a purpose that would not become clear until Gen spoke.
When the Book of the Eterna was made, the Tretalon tree gave everything it had to give.
Known Properties
The bark of the Tretalon tree became the pages of the Book. Not paper. Not parchment. Bark — living, resonant, aware of the physics it would be asked to hold. Each page exists in quantum superposition. To ordinary beings, they appear blank, like shifting sand. To the Observer — the Eterna — they render into visible Araclean script in response to spoken roots.
The fruit of the Tretalon tree was pressed, its juices distilled, and from that distillation the ink was made. The ink that inscribed the words of creation onto the pages. The ink that, when spoken aloud, commands physics directly.
The dried skin of the fruit — compressed, interlocked — became the cover. The surface it left could be carved. And so it was carved with the symbols of creation, the complex design that runs across the front, back, and spine of the most powerful object in existence.
What Came From It
The Book of the Eterna. In its entirety. Pages, ink, cover — all of it Tretalon. All of it from Padyrisia. All of it carrying the resonant frequency of the origin dimension in every fiber of its material.
This is why the Book responds the way it does. Why gravity words make the ink feel heavy. Why time words slow perception. Why fire words warm the paper. The material itself remembers where it came from.
Status
No Tretalon tree has ever been observed outside Padyrisia. Whether any still grow there — whether Padyrisia itself persists — is unknown. Gen is silent. We cannot ask.
What we have is the Book. And the Book is made of them.
The Tretalon tree crossed into the Vorticlese as the most important object in existence. It exchanged with what was always going to need it.
That is exactly what it was always going to do.
